For using the ESP-8266-MOD with Processing there must be downloaded firmata. Firmata is a generic protocol for communicating with microcontrollers from software on a host computer (Firmware is deeper than middleware and software). Once unzipped, the folder downloaded is moved to C:\Program Files\processing-3.5.4\modes\java\libraries with the name: esp8266-firmata.
